MATCHA & MONEY
WHY MATCHA & MONEY EXISTS
Why does it take a life-altering event to make us look?
Hi, I'm Emma - I left school at 16 and worked hard from that day forward. I did all the responsible things - the right accounts, the monthly contributions, the right boxes ticked. But over the years, I had quietly handed the financial wheel to others. A different male advisor on each account, each one managing their piece. I trusted, as my mother had trusted, that "this stuff" was in better hands than my own.
When my mum died - much earlier than any of us expected - what I found made me angry in a way I wasn't prepared for. Not because anyone stole from her. Because nobody was watching. Fees running up quietly for decades. Advisors in different countries who never spoke to each other. And money invested in things she was vehemently opposed to - but she didn't know, because she didn't look.
I stepped back, dug deep and took a long hard look at my own accounts. And I saw myself on a very similar path. That's when everything changed. I dove into a two+ year self-education rabbit hole and emerged with a massive network, greater confidence and a desire to bring more women into this conversation. I'm not a financial advisor and I certainly don't play one on TV either. I'm someone who learned the hard way what avoidance can actually cost - and so I built the room that I wish had existed for me.

I feel like I’m breaking a family cycle of inaction and having no financial strategy.

Next Event:
First Sip - Tuesday, May 26th - 5pm
Santa Barbara, CA - intimate home setting - exact address shared on registration
Your entry point. 90 minutes. An intimate gathering of women. Good matcha. An honest conversation about money - the fear, the avoidance, the stories we've inherited. And what it actually looks like to start changing that.
Spots are limited intentionally.
STEP ONE: FIRST SIP
Not a class. Not a webinar. A conversation.
90 minutes. A small gathering. Three things you walk away with - all of them yours to keep.
Your story, named
Identify the belief or moment that started your avoidance. Name it. Share it. That's the first act of changing it.
One honest number
Not a budget, just one thing to look at this week. A balance. A statement. The act of looking is the whole point
90-day intention
Not a resolution. One quiet intention for where you'd like to feel different. Yours to define and yours to keep.
(bonus) Community
You leave Matcha & Money knowing you are not alone in this - and that aspect matters more than any advice.

Thanks so much for putting this series together. I think the biggest take away for me is getting to talk about money in a way that is honest and feels good to connect in a different way with other women. Overall it has been great and I left each session with a feeling like it was an opportunity to look at money in a different way.

This has been so great. Thank you for the reminder to start by taking some sort of small step to start taking charge of finances and get out of indecision/paralysis/floating along mode.
